Visit a different restaurant every night for months.

If you do an Internet search for 'restaurants' in the St Kilda area you'll get a list of more than eighty top class places to eat. And that doesn't include the hundreds of cafes, more than fifty pubs and bars and the various coffee bars and cake shops tucked away in nearby Acland Street, Inkerman Street and Fitzroy Street. We can't list them all but we will be featuring different places to eat on this page of our web site. Plus we'll give you a complete list of all the places to eat within easy reach of Apartments Ink. Just ask at the desk.

Monroes

Monroes in Fitzroy Street. Open until 3 am Friday & Saturday nights.

The M Bar is part of Monroe's Restaurant. It has it's own street entry with access to the restaurant. Open seven days a week until after midnight and extra late on Friday and Saturday. They have a huge menu and an extensive drinks menu as well. Named after a 1950s Hollywood starlet, it's no wonder you'll also find a Marilyn pizza on the menu (honey-cured ham, sliced mushrooms, fresh peppers, olives, onions, garlic and mozzarella cheese).

  Big Mouth

Big Mouth at the 'Paris End' of Acland Street.

Sit downstairs with your laptop, latte and a slab of chocolate and sticky date pudding cake or upstairs in the spacious dining room with Thai Beef Salad and a glass of wine. The menu encompasses Asian, French and Mediterranean flavours. The service is friendly and efficient. Located on the corner of Acland and Barclay Streets, the 1930s double story Art Deco building was originally the Oakrood Tea Gardens. In the 1950s the upstairs area was a dance hall.

Kifli, Beigli and Kugelhopf. A taste of history.

A stroll down Acland Street takes you past four very original European cake shops including Le Bon at number 93 and the famous Monarch at number 103. The Monarch has been there since 1934 and still serve their legendary Kifli, Beigli and Kugelhopf. Two doors away you'll find the East European restaurant Scheherazade Coffee Lounge founded in 1958 where you can dine on such traditional fare as gefilte fish, chopped chicken liver, potato latkes and kreplach.

Donovans. Fireplaces in the winter & the sea views in summer.

Donovans was originally one of three original bathing houses built in the 1920s. In 1986 the building was refurbished and opened as Jean Jaques By The Sea. In 1995 the business by sold to Gail & Kevin Donovan and transformed into the unique and very stylish Donovans. Its very comfortable, the food is great, the views of the sea through the floor-to-ceiling windows are magnificent. There are several different eating areas.

The Dogs Bar. One of St Kilda's original bars. Now copied by the rest.

One of Melbourne's best (and best known) bars. Loved by locals and visitors. Two roaring fires in winter, interesting wines (over 150) and an Italian-inspired menu with pasta dishes, pizza and antipasto. A great place to sit and watch the passers by, to eat and drink, to see and be seen, to meet people, to sit and gossip. Open every day until after midnight.
